August 13, 2020 Findlay, OH – The International Softball Congress (ISC) is pleased to announce that players Ryan Wolfe and Gerald Muizelaar have been unanimously elected to the ISC Hall of Fame.

Wolfe, originally from Melbourne, ON and now living in London, is an 11-time ISC All-World player, one of only five in ISC history to have that many selections. He is a seven-time ISC World Champion. Wolfe starred for Broken Bow Travellers for many years in the 2000s, winning three championships, before joining the Kitchener Rivershark Twins to win another two at the end of the decade and two more titles with Jarvis Travellers in 2011 and 2012.

When the ballpark conversation turned to who was the best player in the game during the 2000s, Wolfe was at the top of those discussions. He consistently hit for a high average with power – finishing his ISC career with a .331 batting average – was flawless on defense and displayed both speed and smarts on the basepaths.

Nova Scotia native Muizelaar, now resident in Grand Forks, ND, was dominant with blazing speed on his pitches and a devastating change-up. He finished his ISC career with 48 wins, tied for sixth all-time, including an ISC-record 23 in a row in the early 2000s. An eight-time ISC All World player, Muizelaar was named the Most Outstanding Pitcher at three ISC World Tournaments. He won three ISC World Championships with Broken Bow and also pitched with New York Patsy’s and Fargo Kegel Black Knights.

Now the pitching coach with USA Softball, Muizelaar is a featured instructor at ISC tournaments and other events across the continent. Like his long-time teammate Wolfe, Muizelaar was right in the conversation for the best in the world during his prime.

“Ryan is the best centerfielder I’ve seen. He was smart, smooth and effortlessly made all the plays while being a great teammate off and on the field and was a positive influence on everyone he came into contact with,” said Hall of Fame manager Steve Kooser, who managed both Wolfe and Muizelaar at Broken Bow. “Gerald is a smart, tough, fiery competitor and led Bow to several championships. He was always there for us and it was a pleasure to have him on our teams.”

The pair will be inducted into the ISC Hall of Fame at the 2021 Hall of Fame Breakfast and Induction Ceremony in Kitchener, ON as part of the ISC’s 75th Anniversary. Joining them will be Chris Miljavac, Todd Garcia, Scott Standerfer and Jimmy Doyle, as their 2020 induction was delayed.

August 11, 2020 Findlay, OH – The International Softball Congress (ISC) confirms that the ‘PRAWN’ (Player Rep All World Name) eligibility for 2021 will be carried over from 2020 with no changes.

“Given that the World Tournament was cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control, the extension of the PRAWN eligibility from 2020 into 2021 ensures a consistent and level playing field for all teams and players, and doesn’t given anyone an unfair advantage,” said Larry Fisher, ISC Executive Director.

The PRAWN rules are listed on page 146 of the 2020 ISC World Championship Guide. The list of PRAWN players and pitchers is on the ISC website at www.iscfastpitch.com under the ISC Forms tab.

June 14, 2020 Findlay, OH –  With the ongoing global uncertainty stemming from the coronavirus pandemic, the International Softball Congress with our partners the Visit Quad Cities host committee are deeply saddened to announce the cancellation of the 2020 ISC World Tournament scheduled for August in Moline, IL.

“Working closely with Lynn Hunt, our partner at Visit Quad Cities, who has so capably hosted us four times previously going back to 2009, we explored every possible avenue to make this work,” said ISC Executive Director Larry Fisher.

“We want the ISC World Tournament to have the best men’s fastball teams and players and that just wasn’t going to be possible this year due to circumstances beyond our control. The reality is that there’s no way for us to conduct the World Tournament in a safe manner that doesn’t jeopardize the health of our players, officials and fans.”

With the ISC’s 75th Anniversary scheduled for Kitchener, ON in August 2021, the ISC Executive Committee has approved Quad Cities as host for the 2022 ISC World Tournament. “Lynn and her team at Visit Quad Cities are terrific partners and we look forward to being able to return to the Quad Cities,” said Fisher.

“This year has been challenging and disappointing for all involved in this tough decision, however, we have been laser focused on the safety and regulations in place by our government and health officials,” said Lynn Hunt, Visit Quad Cities Vice President, Business Growth & Service. “We also wanted to host a tournament that represented the prestigious and international component that makes the ISC World Tournament the best fastball competition in the world. We respect the decision of the ISC because we know they have the players safety as the top priority, and we are looking forward to hosting all the ISC teams, commissioners and fans in 2022.”

Should conditions permit, the ISC will look to hold its second annual ISC Winter-Invitational in January 2021 in the Kissimmee, FL area. Interested teams should contact Larry Fisher per below.

We continue to encourage all fastball teams, players and fans to follow the precautions and best practices recommended by our governments and public health experts.

The ISC extends its best wishes to all the individuals and communities who have been impacted by the virus and salutes the front-line workers who are caring for the sick and vulnerable across the globe.

June 2, 2020 Findlay, OH – As the global situation surrounding the Covid-19 virus pandemic continues to evolve and improve in many areas, planning for the 2020 International Softball Congress World Tournament in Quad Cities is still ongoing.

We are discussing all available options, including alternate dates, with our host committee partners and remain hopeful and optimistic that the 2020 World Tournament can proceed subject to any conditions that may be in place by local and state health authorities.

With international travel to and from the United States and Canada still restricted for what would be the start of the season, for 2020 only, the ISC is adjusting its eligibility rules as per below:

• Requirements for teams with four or more approved Out-of Region players to have those players play in at least two approved ISC qualifying events, invitationals or tournaments with their current year’s team is waived.
• Requirements for all ISC teams to play in two qualifying events, invitationals or tournaments prior to the ISC World Tournament is waived.

Teams that are considering entering the 2020 ISC World Tournament are asked to submit a preliminary roster ASAP in the next two weeks to ISC Executive Director Larry Fisher. A final roster will be due on the Monday prior to the dates of the actual tournament. All ISC “PRAWN” rules remain in effect.

We encourage all fastball teams, players and fans to follow the precautions and best practices recommended by our governments and public health experts.

The ISC extends its best wishes to all the individuals and communities who have been impacted by the virus and salutes the front-line workers who are caring for the sick and vulnerable across the globe.

May 1, 2020 Findlay, OH – As fastball players, fans and officials may imagine, the ISC Executive is monitoring the COVID-19 virus situation closely in conjunction with our host committee partners.

We remain hopeful and optimistic that the 2020 ISC World Tournament can be held in Quad Cities in August as scheduled and continue to plan accordingly.

However, it appears that, for at least the next 30 days if not longer, international travel to and from the United States and Canada will remain restricted and the ability to hold qualifiers in many areas will be limited. With that in mind, for the 2020 season only, the ISC is adjusting the June and July Out-of-Region player eligibility rules to the below.

“All ISC teams who have four (4) or more approved Out-of-Region players must have their Out-of-Region players play in at least two (2) approved ISC qualifying events, invitational’s or tournaments, with their current year’s team, prior to the 2020 ISC World Tournament to be eligible to play in the 2020 ISC World Tournament.”

Teams with fewer than four out-of-region players need only play in two qualifying events, invitationals or tournaments prior to the 2020 ISC World Tournament to be eligible for a berth in the 2020 ISC World Tournament.

We encourage all fastball teams, players and fans to follow the precautions and best practices recommended by our governments and public health experts. Your concerns and passion for the game are appreciated – we all share it.

The ISC extends its best wishes to all the individuals and communities who have been impacted by the virus.

As we are all dealing with the effects of the COVID-19 virus, including the recommendations, restrictions and orders from both our governments and the CDC, it is our hope that we can still have our World Tournament in August as scheduled. As you might imagine, we have been talking about this internally, understanding the situations are different in each country, and that things are changing day by day with good news one day and bad news the next. With that said, we are in the hands of local, provincial/state and federal health authorities and will be taking our cues from them.

We will continue to monitor ongoing events and undertake the precautions and best practices recommended by public health experts, and urge all softball teams, players and fans to follow suit. On or about May 1 we’ll have an update on where we stand for June requirements. We don’t think that anything can be decided with finality about July and August until about June 1.

We appreciate your concerns and passion for the game – we all share it. The ISC extends its best wishes to all the individuals and communities who have been impacted by the coronavirus.

April 1, 2020  –  The ISC will celebrate its 75th Anniversary in 2021. As part of our planning for our 75th Anniversary celebrations, we are polling to take votes on “Team of the Decade” for each of the decades running from the 1950s all the way up to and including the 2010s.

In March, we asked for votes on the Team of the Decade for the 1940s-50s. For the month of April, we are asking fastball fans, players and officials to vote on the Team of the Decade for the 1960s. In future months, voting will be conducted for subsequent decades.

More info on the 1960s can be found at www.iscfastpitch.com on the Highlights page under the Archives tab.

To place your vote for Team of the Decade for the 1960s, click on the Polling Booth image on the right side of the ISC website home page.
