The road to the International Softball Congress (ISC) World Tournament rolled through Baja California from May 29-31, as Tijuana Fast Pitch hosted a thrilling ISC Qualifier. Eight elite teams split into two competitive groups battled it out over three intense days of action, but when the dust settled, Maquinando López emerged victorious on their home turf.

Group Stage Action: Building the Bracket

The opening days featured intense pool play as teams fought for positioning ahead of the single-elimination bracket.

Grupo A

  • Peñas Team (3-0): Dominated the group stage, racking up a massive 30 runs scored while only allowing 7.

  • Maquinando López (2-1): Finished second in the group, showing great resilience to punch their ticket to Championship Sunday with 16 runs scored.

  • Hurracanes CDMX (1-2): Battled hard to lock down a win, finishing third.

  • Kraken (0-3): Suffered tough breaks against elite bats, rounding out the group.

Grupo B

  • CK Sports (2-1): Clinched the top spot in a tightly contested group courtesy of crucial tiebreakers.

  • MC 77’s (2-1): Showed phenomenal defensive discipline, allowing a tournament-low 5 runs over three games.

  • Pistones ALZ (1-2): Grabbed a vital victory to stay alive in the mix.

  • TJ Bandits (1-2): Placed fourth despite a gritty effort, matching their runs scored to their runs allowed at an even 12.

Championship Sunday: The Road to the Title

Championship Sunday at Estadio Egresados brought maximum drama, starting with the morning elimination rounds.

In the first wave of playoff action, the powerhouse bats of Maquinando López outlasted Pistones ALZ to secure an early semi-final berth. Simultaneously, MC 77’s took care of business against Hurracanes CDMX to move ahead.

As the midday games approached, the top-seeded group winners joined the fray. Group A leaders Peñas Team suited up for a heavyweight showdown against the advancing Maquinando López, while Group B leaders CK Sports lined up against MC 77’s.

Stepping up when everything was on the line, Maquinando López put together an incredible string of victories to defeat the tournament’s top-seeded squads, advancing through to the Grand Final and ultimately capturing the Copa Fastpitch Tijuana crown!
