(Game #1 – JDT First Energy Fields #1)

The tournament began with an immediate classic as the Puslinch Kodiaks rallied from the brink of defeat to edge out the Walton Brewers 6–5 in a wild nine-inning marathon.

Early on, it looked like the Brewers would cruise to victory. Powered by long balls from Colton Quipp and Sam Diamond, Walton built a commanding 5–1 cushion. But the Kodiaks refused to quietly exit stage left. In the bottom of the fifth, Puslinch mounted a ferocious four-run surge—ignited by a launch from Matt Hatch—to even the score at 5–5 and send the game into high-stakes extra innings.

The game ultimately hinged on a masterclass from the bullpen. Kodiaks reliever Kevin Buckley put on a pristine display, firing 4.0 hitless, scoreless innings with four strikeouts to keep the Brewers at bay. That paved the way for Puslinch to manufacture the walk-off run in the bottom of the ninth, capping off a thrilling comeback win.

Over on Field #2, fans were treated to a full-throttle offensive explosion as the Seattle Dirt Dogs outslugged Highgate Rock in a staggering 16–11 shootout.

The two squads traded blows like heavyweight fighters, combining for an astounding 33 hits and 27 runs. Seattle set the tempo early with three runs in the first inning and pushed four more across in the third. Though Highgate continuously answered back behind home runs from Derek Shaw, Josh Hamilton, and Kyle Vink, Seattle’s deep lineup never let up on the gas pedal.

Leading the charge for Seattle was Kristian Knight, who went 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs, alongside Tysan Fischlin (3-for-5, 3 RBIs).

Perhaps the most impressive feat of the chaos belonged to Seattle starter Kazuki Ishizaki. Despite facing a relentless assault, Ishizaki went the full distance, gutting out a 7-inning complete game and fanning 12 batters to seal the win.

Surgical Precision: Giants Pitching Stifles River Kings in Shutout Victory

While offense stole the spotlight elsewhere, the Georgian Bay Giants offered a completely different brand of dominance at Glencoe Park, shutting out the Prince George River Kings 7–0 in a clinical performance.

Giants starter Yuya Yamawaki was the star of the show. Yamawaki kept the River Kings completely off-balance all morning, racking up 9 strikeouts while allowing just two hits over five scoreless frames. Reliever Taiga Onishi entered in the sixth to close out the combined three-hit shutout, striking out two of the four batters he faced.

The Giants’ lineup provided plenty of run support, capitalizing on eight hits and six walks. Troy Barfoot set the tone at the top of the card, reaching base four times (1-for-2, double, two walks) and scoring twice to lead Georgian Bay to a comfortable first-round victory.

Together, the duo combined for an astonishing 15 strikeouts.

At the plate, Waterdown supplied all the offense they would need. Ryan Maher launched a home run to finish 1-for-3 with two RBIs, while Luke Zettel (2-for-3, double) and Riley Coverdale (2-for-2, triple) created constant traffic on the basepaths.

Watson was in total control from first pitch to last. Over 7.0 full innings, he surrendered just three hits and two walks while striking out 13 Chiefs hitters.

The Mastodons’ offense struck early in the bottom of the third with three runs, anchored by Tyler Williams, who went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Vinnie Bures added a 2-for-3 day as East Hants built a comfortable four-run lead that Watson easily defended down the stretch.

Townsend Tide appeared to be cruising after taking an 8–4 lead in the top of the fifth, powered by a 2-for-3, home run, and 3-RBI display from Will Schotzhauer. However, JB Fastpitch answered with a crushing 6-run surge in the bottom half of the fifth. A barrage of long balls from Juan Villalvazo, Junior Flores, and Te Wera Bishop flipped the game on its head to make it 10–8.

JB Fastpitch reliever Bradley Kilpatrick closed out the game, firing 4.0 clutch innings while striking out six batters to secure the victory.

Bear Creek ace Ty Sebastian was virtually unhittable, throwing a complete-game 2-hit shutout while striking out an incredible 18 batters across 7.0 innings. Broken Bow starter Victor Guedez matched him blow-for-blow, keeping Bear Creek scoreless through six innings with seven strikeouts of his own.

The scoreless tie finally broke in the bottom of the 7th. Bear Creek’s Yusuke Morita singled, advanced on a sac fly by Ty Sebastian, and came around to score on a clutch single by Luiger Pinto to seal the 1–0 walk-off victory in stunning fashion.

The Drillers’ arms were untouchable. Starter Huemul Mata picked up the win with 2.0 hitless innings, striking out 8 of the 9 batters he faced. Matias Etchevers Laraburu covered the remaining 2.0 innings, giving up just 1 hit while striking out 3 to complete a 1-hit, 11-strikeout combined shutout across 4 frames.

Offensively, the Drillers erupted in the bottom of the 4th with an 8-run surge. Teo Migliavacca led the charge going 1-for-2 with a triple, 2 RBIs, and a run scored, while Jordan Solorio added a triple, going 1-for-3 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored.

The Gremlins exploded for 9 runs in the 1st inning, 5 in the 2nd, and 3 more in the 3rd. Jerome Raemaki was unstoppable at the dish, going 3-for-3 with two doubles, 3 RBIs, and 3 runs scored. Ben Enoka homered in a 1-for-1 effort with 2 RBIs and 3 runs scored, while Nick Mullins went 2-for-2 with two doubles and 3 RBIs.
