Following our feature on Colin Abbott’s all-time offensive records, we return to the circle to celebrate one of the most dominant single-tournament pitching performances in softball history: Australia’s Adam Folkard.
During the 2013 ISC World Tournament in Quad Cities (IL & IA), pitching for the powerhouse Hill United Chiefs, Folkard put on an absolute masterclass. He shattered Dick Brubaker’s 49-year-old record (18 innings in 1964) by stringing together an incredible 19 1/3 consecutive no-hit innings.
2013: A Year of Absolute Perfection
Folkard’s 2013 campaign was nothing short of historic. During that single tournament, he hurled two complete Perfect Games and recorded two solo No-Hitters—setting a baseline of dominance that fueled Hill United’s championship run.
His uncanny ability to shut down lineups individually and as part of a tandem makes his tournament record uniquely remarkable:
- 19 1/3 Consecutive No-Hit Innings: ISC World Tournament Record (2013).
- 4 Career Solo No-Hitters: (2013 twice, 2014, 2019) — Tied for 2nd-most all-time.
- 2 Career Perfect Games: Both coming in his legendary 2013 run.
- 22 Consecutive Wins: 2nd-longest streak in ISC history (2013–2016), second only to Gerald Muizelaar (23).
- 52 Career ISC Wins: Ranks 5th on the all-time victory list.
The Master of Combined No-Hitters
While Folkard was unhittable on his own, he was equally lethal when sharing the circle. He dominated combined no-hitter leaderboards with multiple teammates:
- Combined Perfect Game: Threw a combined perfect game with Pablo Migliavacca in 2017.
- Most Combined No-Hitters with a Single Partner: 3 with Pablo Migliavacca (2016, 2017, 2022).
- 2nd Most Combined No-Hitters: 2 with Justin Schofield (2017, 2018).
- Tied for 3rd Most Combined No-Hitters: Achieved combined no-hitters with Mitch Hardy (2013) and Trevor Ethier (2010).
Voted by fans as the ISC Best Pitcher of the 2010s, Folkard’s combination of heat, precision, and untouchable stuff earned him 6 Leroy Zimmerman Most Outstanding Pitcher awards and solidified his spot among fastpitch royalty.
