Friday Night Recap: STK Holds Down Dirt Dogs at Bob Law Memorial Challenge And The Au Sable Tournament Is Of To A Hot Start

The first and only game on the Friday night of the Bob Law Memorial Challenge in Vancouver, BC at the historical Memorial South Park was between STK Fastball from Chase, BC and Seattle Dirt Dogs from Seattle, WA. Both teams are getting ready for this year’s World Tournament in Melbourne, Ontario.

STK Fastball scored four runs in the first inning, which helped them defeat Seattle Dirt Dogs 6-0 on Friday at Memorial South Park. an error scored two runs, Ben Edgington doubled, scoring one run, and Nick Fry singled, scoring one run.

Cory Jones homered to center field, scoring two runs in the bottom of the second for the STK Fastball.

Luis Amaya Fuenmayor pitched four innings in relief for STK Fastball. The hurler surrendered one hit and zero runs while, striking out nine and walking one. Nick Neid stepped in the circle first for STK Fastball. The pitcher gave up one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out four and walking none. Austin Gooden stepped in the circle first for Seattle Dirt Dogs. The pitcher surrendered four hits and six runs (two earned) over two innings, striking out four and walking five.

Jones provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led STK Fastball with two runs batted in. The number three hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Zahr Shaw-WallaceEdgintonFelipe MunozJones, and Fry each collected one hit for STK Fastball. Joshua Poblette paced STK Fastball with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, piling up seven walks for the game. Shaw-Wallace and Poblette each stole multiple bases for STK Fastball. STK Fastball ran wild on the base paths, accumulating seven stolen bases for the game. STK Fastball were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Kyle Cowick had the most chances in the field with 13.

Tysen Fischlin and Gooden were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected one hit for Seattle Dirt Dogs while hitting back-to-back.

Next up for STK Fastball is a game at Meralomas Canadians on Saturday at noon. The Dirt Dogs plays the Prince George River Kings at the same time.

AU SABLE FORKS, NY – The diamonds are buzzing as the 2026 Au Sable Forks Fast Pitch Tournament officially kicked off this evening, Friday, July 10, bringing high-caliber fastpitch action to the region. Featuring an elite eight-team field, this year’s tournament utilizes an exciting Super Pool Format where every single team is guaranteed to advance into the single-elimination bracket phase, setting the stage for a dramatic weekend of ball.

Friday Night Lights: Opening Results

Opening night on Field 1 didn’t disappoint, providing fans with tense matchups and setting an energetic tone for the weekend:

  • Game 1 (7:00 PM): Brewers 5, ADK Steelworks 1 The Brewers started their campaign strong, showcasing efficient hitting and solid defense to claim a 5-1 victory over ADK Steelworks.
  • Game 2 (9:00 PM): Team 518 2, Quebec U20 Jr’s 0 In a classic pitcher’s duel under the lights, Team 518 edged past the Quebec U20 Juniors with a tight 2-0 shutout.

Saturday Slate: Pool Play & Bracket Seeding

Action resumes early Saturday morning across two fields as teams jockey for crucial positioning and seeding in the afternoon bracket.

The Road to the Championship: Bracket Play

Once pool play concludes on Saturday afternoon, all eight teams will be seeded #1 through #8 for the single-elimination bracket. All bracket matchups will take place on Field 1.

  • 3:30 PM – Quarterfinal 1: #1 Seed vs. #8 Seed
  • 5:30 PM – Quarterfinal 2: #4 Seed vs. #5 Seed
  • 7:30 PM – Quarterfinal 3: #2 Seed vs. #7 Seed

Sunday Championship Day (July 12)

The intensity reaches its peak on Sunday morning as the final teams battle for tournament glory:
