As the International Fastpitch Congress (ISC) continues its 80th-anniversary celebrations, the results for the best of the 1980s are in! In a decade defined by legendary arms and fierce competition on the diamond, fans have officially voted Jimmy Moore as the ISC Pitcher of the Decade for the 1980s.
The voting reflected just how elite the competition was during that era. Moore captured the top spot with 31.4% of the vote, narrowly edging out fellow pitching icons Peter Meredith (22.5%) and Brad Underwood (22.4%).
A Decade of Dominance
Jimmy Moore’s resume from the 1980s and early 90s reads like a masterclass in power pitching. Inducted into the ISC Hall of Fame in 1996, Moore was the backbone of legendary squads like Pay ‘N’ Pak and Seafirst Bank.
His trophy case from the ISC World Tournament is among the most impressive in history. Moore was named the Most Outstanding Pitcher four times (1985, 1986, 1988, and 1990) and earned All-World selection honors in 1983, 1985, 1986, and 1990.
Record-Breaking Performances
Moore wasn’t just a winner; he was nearly unhittable. His 1986 campaign remains one of the greatest individual seasons in fastpitch history. During that World Tournament, he:
- Pitched two perfect games.
- Set a record for the most no-hit games in a single tournament with three.
Throughout his ISC career, Moore maintained a staggering win-loss record of 29-5 and finished with a total of four no-hitters.
