Champions Crowned in Missouri While Rain Limits Play in Ontario

The road to the 2026 ISC World Tournament heated up across North America this past weekend with two major qualifier events on the schedule. While fans in Missouri were treated to a complete weekend of high-intensity bracket play, mother nature unfortunately disrupted the playoff picture in Ontario.

Here is your weekly roundup of the action from the Norb Thurmer Memorial and the Bear Creek Classic.

Norb Thurmer Memorial (Saint Peters, MO)

The action at C N H Park in Saint Peters, Missouri, delivered plenty of offensive fireworks and dramatic finishes as regional squads battled for a direct path to the ISC World Tournament.

Round Robin Highlights

The tournament opened with an absolute explosion of offense, headlined by Jansen Dairy making an immediate statement with a massive 21-12 victory over St. Charles Tribe (2).

As pool play sorted itself out, the St. Louis Honeybadgers and the Wabash Vipers emerged as the teams to beat. The Honeybadgers rolled past the Kansas City Indios 12-2, while Wabash dominant in a 12-0 shutout against those same Indios. Wabash also laid down a definitive marker by routing the Honeybadgers 11-1 in a cross-pool statement game, while Jansen Dairy quietly kept pace with an 8-1 victory over the Tribe (2).

Sunday Bracket & Championship

With the top teams advancing to Sunday’s single-elimination bracket, the pitching and defense tightened up dramatically:

  • The Semifinals: The St. Louis Honeybadgers completely flipped their script from Saturday. They opened the morning by blanking St. Charles Tribe (1) 3-0. They then dug in for a gritty 2-1 semifinal rematch victory over the Vipers, completely avenging their heavy round-robin loss to secure a spot in the finals.
  • The Finale: The championship game between Jansen Dairy and the Honeybadgers was an absolute classic. In an 8-7 nail-biter, Jansen Dairy’s bats did just enough to hold off a relentless Honeybadgers comeback, locking down the victory and earning the title of 2026 Norb Thurmer Memorial Champions.

Bear Creek Classic (Melbourne, ON)

The pristine diamonds at JDT First Energy Veterans Memorial Fields played host to a loaded slate of elite men’s fastpitch squads, offering marquee matchups all Friday night and Saturday before the weather rolled in.

Friday Night Fireworks

Opening night set a blistering standard. The Bear Creek Gremlins edged out the Hill United Chiefs 2-1 behind a decisive two-run shot from Cole Evans, while the NorthEast Drillers pushed past the host Bear Creek Express 3-2 in an 8-inning thriller decided by Ralph Reilly Makea’s game-winning RBI. JDT First Energy also started strong, blanking STK Fastball 7-0 on the back of a Guadalupe Ayon grand slam.

Saturday’s Marathon Slate

Saturday saw a fierce mix of offensive dominant performances and elite defensive stands:

  • The Powerhouses Surge: Hill United bounced back with vengeance, crushing Ohsweken 10-2 and the Chippewa Chiefs 15-0. The Bear Creek Express also found their rhythm, routing Midland 13-4 and beating STK Fastball 7-3.
  • Gremlins and First Energy Roll: The Gremlins continued their march by blanking Ohsweken 13-0 and Chippewa 12-0 (featuring a perfect 4-for-4 day from Jerome Raemaki). JDT First Energy showed immense firepower as well, dismantling the Drillers 12-5.
  • Tense Rematches: In a preview of what could have been a spectacular playoff, the Bear Creek Express edged past JDT First Energy 2-1 courtesy of a Rafa Flores two-run blast, while the Toronto Batmen pulled off a major 7-3 upset over Hill United behind the pitching of Roman Godoy.

Sunday Rainout & Co-Winners

Just as the tournament shifted into peak bracket intensity, a massive Sunday storm entirely rained out the playoff schedule. By virtue of their incredible round-robin performances and undefeated records heading into the elimination stage, Bear Creek Gremlins Fastpitch and JDT First Energy were declared Co-Winners of the 2026 Bear Creek Classic.
