Championship Sunday Delivers Winners at the 2026 ISC Canada East Qualifier

Championship Sunday at Keterson Park in Mitchell, Ontario, brought the 2026 ISC Canada East Qualifier to a thrilling conclusion. Teams fought through elimination brackets to crown champions across the White, Red, and Legends divisions.

White Division

Toronto Batmen 4, Bear Creek Express 3 (8:30 AM)

The day opened with a nail-biting battle as the Toronto Batmen narrowly defeated the Bear Creek Express 4-3. The Batmen struck first with a run in the top of the first inning and added two more in the top of the second, while the Express answered with two of their own in the bottom of the second. Toronto added a vital insurance run in the top of the seventh on a solo home run by Tyler Pauli. This proved to be the difference maker, as a final-inning run by the Express fell just short of forcing extra innings. Pauli anchored the Batmen’s offense, finishing 2-for-3 with a triple, the home run, and two runs scored.

JDT First Energy 5, NorthEast Drillers 4 (8:30 AM)

In another morning thriller, JDT First Energy walked off against the NorthEast Drillers 5-4. JDT First Energy controlled the middle portion of the game, responding to an early first-inning Drillers run by tying it in the fourth and launching a three-run surge in the bottom of the fifth to take a 4-1 lead. The Drillers counter-punched furiously with three runs in the top of the sixth to tie the game 4-4, but JDT First Energy manufactured the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh. Top performer Guadalupe Ayon fueled the victory, finishing 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored, and two RBIs.

  • Winning Pitcher: Rami Madzukova earned the win in relief, throwing 2.0 scoreless innings, allowing 1 hit, striking out 3 and walking 2. Devon McCullough started the game and pitched 5.0 innings, giving up 9 hits, 4 runs (4 earned), striking out 5 and walking 2.
  • Losing Pitcher: Matias Echeverria suffered the loss in relief, tossing 1.1 innings, giving up 2 hits, 1 run (1 earned), striking out 2 and walking 0. Nahuel Saenz started, logging 5.0 innings, scattering 7 hits, 4 runs (4 earned), striking out 3 and walking 2.

Bear Creek Gremlins 9, Toronto Batmen 2 (11:00 AM)

In the first semifinal matchup, the Bear Creek Gremlins punched their ticket to the finals with a dominant 9-2 run-rule victory over the Toronto Batmen in five innings. The Batmen found the scoreboard with single runs in the top of the first and third innings. However, the Gremlins’ offense completely dictated the pace, scoring two in the first, three in the second, and one in the fourth before exploding for a game-ending three-run walk-off surge in the bottom of the fifth. Ben Enoka earned top performer honors, finishing a perfect 4-for-4 with a clutch 4-RBI performance.

  • Winning Pitcher: Jack Besgrove turned in a masterclass, throwing a 5.0-inning complete game while allowing 2 hits, 2 runs (2 earned), walking 2 and racking up 13 strikeouts.
  • Losing Pitcher: Steven Normand took the loss, pitching 1.2 innings, allowing 4 hits, 5 runs (5 earned), striking out 0 and walking 4. Riley Manion threw 3.0 innings of relief, surrendering 8 hits, 4 runs (4 earned), striking out 0 and walking 1.

Hill United Chiefs 8, JDT First Energy 6 (11:00 AM)

The second semifinal was a high-scoring classic, with the Hill United Chiefs outlasting JDT First Energy 8-6 in a walk-off finale. JDT First Energy shocked the field early, building up a 6-0 advantage in the top of the third inning. The Chiefs fought back immediately in the bottom half of the frame with a five-run explosion highlighted by a Tony Gonzalez home run. Luchi Biondi later hit a solo home run to tie the game in the sixth, setting the stage for Lenny Villalvazo, who smashed a two-run walk-off home run for the Chiefs in the bottom of the seventh. Villalvazo earned top performer honors, finishing 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs.

  • Winning Pitcher: Marco Diaz earned the win in relief, throwing 4.0 scoreless innings, allowing only 1 hit, striking out 6 and walking 0. Justin Schofield started and threw 3.0 innings, allowing 4 hits, 6 runs (1 earned), striking out 4 and walking 0.

The White Division Championship game featured a classic defensive standoff that saw the Hill United Chiefs crown themselves champions with a 3-0 shutout over the Bear Creek Gremlins. Both pitching staffs completely dominated the game, trading zeroes through five innings. The Chiefs finally broke the tense stalemate in the top of the eighth inning by capitalizing on defensive miscues to score all three of the game’s runs. Bradley Ezekiel was named the game’s top performer, supplying all the offense his team needed with a decisive three-run home run.

  • Winning Pitcher: Marco Diaz claimed the victory in relief, throwing 3.0 scoreless innings, giving up 1 hit, striking out 4 and walking 0. Justin Schofield started, throwing 2.1 scoreless frames with 2 hits, 6 strikeouts, and 0 walks. Tyler Randerson tossed 1.2 scoreless relief innings, giving up 1 hit, striking out 1 and walking 0.

The Ohsweken Redmen set the tone for their Sunday bracket run with a crisp 2-0 shutout against the Kingston Axemen 2026. Following three scoreless innings of play, Ohsweken broke the deadlock and manufactured single runs in both the bottom of the fourth and bottom of the fifth frames to build a cushion. Redmen pitcher Clayton Robinson earned top performer honors for completely stifling the Axemen bats.

Georgian Bay Giants 3, St. Thomas Elgins 1 (5:30 AM)

The Georgian Bay Giants advanced past the St. Thomas Elgins in a tight 3-1 game. The Elgins opened the scoring with a run in the top of the first inning, but the Giants quickly adjusted. Georgian Bay responded with two runs in the bottom of the third to take the lead and added a crucial insurance run in the bottom of the fifth. Giants ace Onishi took top performer honors by turning in an absolute gem in the circle.

  • Losing Pitcher: Alex Baillargeon took the loss after throwing 3.1 innings, allowing 1 hit, 1 run (1 earned), striking out 7 and walking 4. Taylor Degraw tossed 2.2 innings in relief, allowing 2 hits, 2 runs (2 earned), striking out 3 and walking 2.

Ohsweken Redmen 3, Waterdown Hammer 1 (8:00 AM)

Ohsweken continued their march forward, defeating the Waterdown Hammer 3-1. The Redmen jumped out to an early lead with a run in the top of the first inning and padded it with a pair of runs in the top of the fourth. Waterdown clawed a run back in the bottom half of the third inning, but they could find no further offense against a locked-in defense. Dustin Veenhof earned top performer honors for anchoring the Redmen’s effort.

  • Winning Pitcher: Dustin Veenhof delivered a complete 7.0-inning game, surrendering 4 hits, 1 run (1 earned), striking out 4 and walking 1.
  • Losing Pitcher: Kyle Linton took the loss, throwing 4.0 innings, allowing 5 hits, 3 runs (3 earned), striking out 6 and walking 1. Reese Yantzi threw 3.0 perfect innings of relief, striking out 6.

Georgian Bay Giants 5, Townsend Tide 4 (8:00 AM)

The Georgian Bay Giants outlasted the Townsend Tide in a thrilling 5-4 encounter. The Giants struck quickly, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first inning and adding a solo run in the fifth. The Tide fought back methodically with runs in the second (1) and fourth (2) and seventh (1). But it ended not being enough to go to the finals. Shortstop Ryugi Okawa was the top performer, finishing 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs.

  • Winning Pitcher: Onishi threw another complete game, lasting 7.0 innings, giving up 4 hits, 4 runs (2 earned), striking out 10 and walking 1.
  • Losing Pitcher: Will Schlotzhauer absorbed the loss after a complete 7.0-inning effort, allowing 11 hits, 5 runs (5 earned), striking out 6 and walking 2.

Championship Final: Ohsweken Redmen 4, Georgian Bay Giants 2 (10:30 AM)

The Red Division final saw the Ohsweken Redmen capture the championship with a hard-fought 4-2 win over the Georgian Bay Giants. Ohsweken took an early lead with a run in the first and two more in the top of the second. The Giants answered back with two runs in the bottom of the third frame to narrow the gap, but the Redmen sealed the championship victory with a final insurance run in the top of the seventh. Matej Rysavy paced the championship offense as the top performer, finishing 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

  • Winning Pitcher: Dustin Veenhof earned the win, tossing 4.0 innings, giving up 5 hits, 2 runs (2 earned), striking out 3 and walking 2. Clayton Robinson earned the save with 3.0 scoreless innings of relief, allowing 2 hits, striking out 4 and walking 1.
  • Losing Pitcher: Onishi took the loss, pitching 1.2 innings, surrendering 5 hits, 3 runs (3 earned), striking out 2 and walking 0. Wade Kewageshig finished the final 5.1 innings of relief, giving up 4 hits, 1 run (1 earned), striking out 4 and walking 1.

Legends Division

The veteran division finalized its tournament bracket on Sunday with highly competitive, high-scoring matchups.

  • Semifinal 1: Bear Creek Storm dominated Tavistock Legends in an 11-4 victory at 8:30 AM.
  • Semifinal 2: Cobourg Force edged past Waterdown Hammer in a tense 4-3 decision at 10:30 AM.
  • Championship Game: In a fittingly dramatic finale at 1:30 PM, Cobourg Force outlasted the Bear Creek Storm 7-6 to officially be crowned the Legends Division Champions.
